Repeat performance will be harder says Preece

REPEATING the performances of the last two seasons will ne harder this time around, the Wingmakers' director of football has warned.

Port Talbot Town are the visitors to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Saturday, with Airbus travelling to Maes Tegid on Monday to take on Bala Town.

"It's not an easy start by any means," Preece told the Chronicle.

"If we can get four points from two games I'll be delighted, I'd take it now.

"Port Talbot are a good side, far better than where they finished last season (ninth). I know previous manager Scott Young expected them to be challenging for the top six or eve higher this season and they've brought in some good players to add to what they already had.

"Then we go to Bala which is never easy.

"Every team seems to have strengthened over the summer and the league will be stronger than ever.

"THere's no Afan Lido this year and Cefn Druids, who have replaced them, have brought in a lot of quality, so I don't think there will be anyone adrift and I expect it to be really tight. It's going to be a really exciting season."

Preece says it may take the Wingmakers "the majority of the season" to adapt to the new 3G pitch, while it is welcome in the long term.

"It will take some getting use to but long term it will be fantastic for the club," he says.

Preece has a full strength squad with the exception of Tom Field and Mike Roddy.
