SUMMER signings Alfons Fosu-Mensah and Luke Busumbru claimed all the goals between them as Airbus were eventually-comfortable 5-2 winners at Holywell Town's Halkyn Road ground.
But the final scoreline hardly tells the story of a game which remained in the balance until the final 20 minutes. Despite taking a second-minute lead through Fosu-Mensah's deflected shot at the near post, the Wingmakers failed to capitalise on their early domination with Aaron Bowen firing over from the edge of the box and then having a shot saved at close range by keeper Joe Griffiths.
And, when John Davies fouled just outside the box after 30 minutes, Shaun Tuck drove the resulting free-kick low into the far corner beyond the dive of Andy Coughlin.
A defensive error three minutes after the break gifted an opening to Steve Lewis, who dinked his shot over Coughlin and into the net to hand the Wellmen the lead. But the arrival of Busumbru from the bench sparked an Airbus revival as the youngster netted the equaliser on the hour mark.
Two minutes later, Fosu-Mensah placed a shot into the far corner and completed his hat-trick 10 minutes later with another well-taken goal.
Airbus still looked vulnerable as the home side searched for a response but a suicidal square pass by a defender went straight to Busumbru, who steadied himself before firing home the fifth with three minutes of normal time remaining.
