A STOPPAGE-time equaliser from former Wingmaker Mike Hayes denied Airbus a victory at Bala after the Wingmakers had surrendered a two-goal lead.

Manager Andy Thomas would probably have settled for an away draw before kick-off but, after leading 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining was left frustrated at leaving Maes Tegid with only one point as his side were once again unable to protect their advantage.

It had all gone to plan in the first half when, after a hesitant start in which Nathan Burke fired a volley straight at Ryan Neild, Airbus found their feet and Jamie Menagh hit the side netting after being played-in by James Murphy.

Just past the half hour Airbus forged ahead when Ashley Williams and Ryan Edwards combined to find Kevin Monteiro, who cleverly created space before firing the ball home from just inside the box.

Six minutes later it got even better as the Frenchman repeated the feat with a superb 12-yard shot after Tony Gray had won the ball down the right and crossed from the byline.

The hosts got back into the game six minutes into the second half when Jonny Spittle was penalised for a challenge on Kieran Smith and Lee Hunt scored from the spot, Ryan Neild's hand not quite strong enough to prevent the ball crossing the line. But another penalty restored the Wingmakers' two-goal cushion after Dave Thompson had handled a Murphy cross in the box and Matty McGinn sent Ashley Morris the wrong way from 12-yards.

Airbus were denied a fourth goal from Bailey Jackson's 22-yarder by an outstanding save by Morris, a moment that proved crucial as Bala mounted a late offensive.

Paul Connolly prevented a goal by deflecting a Smith shot but, from the resulting Ryan Valentine flag kick, Hunt fired past Neild after a goalmouth scramble to reduce the arrears.

Neild made a superb save to tip another Smith effort over the bar but, in a barnstorming finish, a Mark Jones cross found Hayes unmarked at the far post and the striker headed home to snatch the equaliser.
