Tommo hopes to end Llandudno hoodoo on live TV

THE Wingmakers host Llandudno live on S4C this Saturday (5.15) and manager Andrew Thomas hopes his revitalised side can end a hoodoo.

Airbus have gained just one point from five meetings with Alan Morgan's Seasiders since they were promoted to the Welsh Premier League in the summer of 2016, but Thomas thinks a repeat of the performances that have gained seven points from the last three games could see his side gain a vital three points.

"It's going to be a tough game, they beat us 2-0 early on in the season, I'm expecting a hard game against a good team but we've got to go out and do what we've been doing in the last three games," he said.

"The current team didn't play one pre-season game together, all pre-season really we had trialists in, so come the first game I signed four new lads pretty quickly and it took time for them to settle.

"The performances have been good, apart from making mistakes, I think we've deserved something from every game we've played to be honest.

"The team were full of confidence from the two games against Druids and we pushed on, we played really well on Saturday against a good Newtown team, the lads were really buzzing after that game."

Quizzed about his ambitions for the remainder of Phase One, Thomas added: "At the start of the season the chairman just wanted to stabilise things, with such a poor pre-season and not having a squad together, so we're just going to build on each game as it comes and see where we are at Christmas."

The visitors, who are on the same points total as Airbus, have found scoring difficult this season managing just four in nine games with last season's leading marksman Marc Williams, a former Chester team-mate of Tony Gray, finding the net just once.

The Wingmakers' on-loan TNS defender Tom Matthews will miss out after damaging an ankle during the Newtown win, an injury which is expected to rule him out for eight to 10 weeks. But better news is that wingman Ryan Wignall is back in training and should feature in the squad in the near future after missing the whole of the season to date.
